Catamarans are the modern alternative to the classic Turkish gulet. The two-hull layout means almost no roll at anchor (a real comfort difference if anyone gets queasy), shallow draft for tucking into bays gulets can't reach, and a flat bridgedeck cockpit that becomes the social heart of the trip.
The Turkish catamaran fleet is smaller and skews newer than the gulet fleet. Most charter cats here are 40–60 ft, 4–6 cabins, sleeping 8–12 guests with a crew of 2–3.

Stable at anchor
The two-hull layout almost eliminates roll. Light sleepers and anyone prone to seasickness notice the difference immediately.
Shallow draft
1.2–1.5m draft means you can tuck into bays a deep-keel sailing yacht can't. More private anchorages, closer to the beach.
Genuinely sails
Unlike most gulets (motorsailers), charter cats actually sail. Steady reaching at 7–9 knots in a moderate breeze.
Indoor-outdoor flow

Catamaran vs gulet — which is better?
Different boats, different trips. Cat = more sailing, more stable, more modern, smaller crew, slightly higher per-person cost. Gulet = more deck space, full galley crew, more cabins per €, more "Turkish blue-cruise" feel. Pick the cat for couples or smaller groups; the gulet for larger groups and food-focused trips.
Do I need sailing experience?
No — every catamaran in our directory comes with a captain. Bareboat options exist via Marmaris if you have a sailing licence, but the default is fully crewed.
How many guests?
Most charter cats sleep 8–10 guests in 4 ensuite cabins. A few of the larger 60ft+ cats go to 12. Above that, gulets are the only option.
Catamaran weekly cost vs equivalent gulet?
Roughly comparable for the same total guest count. A 50ft cat for 8 guests sits in the same price band as a 30m gulet for 12 — different math (smaller crew + newer boat vs. lower per-guest rate on a bigger boat).
