Day-by-day itinerary

Captains adjust the order based on weather, but these are the standard daily anchorages.

1

Marmaris → Symi (Greece)

Symi (Yialos)

Clear out of Marmaris customs, sail south-west to the Greek island of Symi. Arrive Yialos harbour in time for a sunset walk among the neoclassical houses.

2

Symi → Panormitis

Panormitis

Round the south of Symi to the historic Panormitis monastery; courtyard tour, swim, lunch on board.

3

Panormitis → Rhodes Mandraki

Rhodes Mandraki

South to Rhodes Mandraki harbour — moor inside the medieval port, walk the Old Town in the cool of the evening.

4

Rhodes Old Town day

Rhodes Mandraki

Full day in the UNESCO-listed walled town. Optional half-day excursion inland to Lindos and its acropolis.

5

Rhodes → Datça (Turkey)

Datça

Long crossing back to Turkish waters; clearance into Datça in the late afternoon, dinner in the old harbour.

6

Datça → Knidos

Knidos

Final swim stop at the ancient port of Knidos. Walk the unfenced ruins at sunset.

7

Knidos → Marmaris

Marmaris

Long morning sail along the Datça peninsula back to Marmaris. Disembark after lunch.

Why book this route?

Rhodes Old Town is unlike anywhere else in the Aegean — a fully intact Crusader fortress that you walk into from the harbour. Pair it with Symi and the Datça return for one of the most varied weeks the region offers.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about the Marmaris → Rhodes route.

Do all guests need a passport?

Yes — every guest must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the trip end date. Children included.

Do I need a Schengen visa?

Not for short-stay tourism on UK, US, Canadian, Australian or most EU passports. Other nationalities should check the Greek consulate. The captain cannot clear you into Greece without a valid visa.

How does port clearance work?

The captain handles it. You present passports to Turkish customs on departure (Marmaris) and Greek port police on arrival (Symi or Rhodes). About 1 hour each end.

How does this differ from the Bodrum → Kos crossing?

Marmaris-Rhodes substitutes Rhodes Old Town for Kos Asclepion — a much bigger and better-preserved historic site, plus a longer stay on Symi. Slightly longer sailing legs.

Is Rhodes Mandraki the right harbour to moor in?

Yes for the Old Town walk — Mandraki is the medieval port directly outside the walls. The newer commercial port is for ferries only.

Are Greek port fees included?

Yes — Greek port and clearance fees are included. A few captains add a per-person "transit log" charge; confirm in the inquiry.
